Development Manager

Position Summary: Based in the Chapter's New York City office with a hybrid schedule, the Development Manager will support the Director of Individual and Institutional Giving to organize and manage a comprehensive fundraising program and related activities to meet the goals and objectives established for the Chapter. The Development Manager will help manage a wide-ranging development program across the areas of foundation grants, major and planned gifts, annual giving, workplace and community giving, as well as special projects. Reports to the Director of Individual and Institutional Giving.

Responsibilities:

Prospect Management & Individual Fundraising:

  • Build and maintain an active portfolio of mid-level donors, including managing Direct Mail, Employee/Workplace Giving donors, and leading the Communities Health Charities portfolio.
  • Ensure development data is accurate and updated to inform strategy and track progress.
  • Create and maintain data analysis and tracking system for efficient management of new fundraising leads, existing funding relationships, and past funding sources.
  • Assist the Director in carrying out long-range and short-term strategies and goals.
  • Grants Management & Development Writing:

  • Assist Director in the writing and compilation of grant proposals and reports, letters of inquiry and other grant-related content as assigned.
  • Maintain a deadline-driven calendar of all activities related to foundation giving, as well as researching grant guidelines.
  • Assist in ensuring grant-funded programs are effectively executed.
  • Donor Relations & Systems Management:

  • Manage donor stewardship correspondence (phone calls, emails, and hard letters), including tax acknowledgements letters in a timely and customized manner.
  • Work collaboratively with finance and gift processing.
  • Manage the tracking and filing of development and donor files.
  • Analyze weekly donor reports to identify potential major gift and planned giving prospects.
  • Assist in the coordination of other Development events.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and written, about our programs to various constituents.
  • Represent the Chapter at industry related events and engagement opportunities.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Must have 2 - 4 years of progressively responsible development experience with a proven track record of success.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, and strong organization skills required.
  • High level of computer and research skills, including Excel and fundraising database experience.
  • Resourceful creative thinker and thoughtful problem solver, takes initiative.
  • Proven abilities of a quality customer service approach in donor relations.
  • Maintains a level of personal responsibility, is self-motivated, diligent, and goal-oriented.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, conscientious, and diligent.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Practices a high level of discretion handling sensitive and confidential constituent information.
  • Works effectively independently as well as a team player in highly collaborative and dynamic environment; is professional, motivated, and caring.
  • Maintains a commitment to learn and grow professionally.

  • Full-Time
  • $50-$60K
  • 4 year degree required
